CAASPP UMBRELLA OF ASSESSMENT
The CAASPP umbrella of assessments includes The Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium (SBAC) and has been the state approved assessment for schools for five years. This assessment is aligned with the Common Core Standards adopted by the state of California and measures progress in ELA and math in grades 3 - 8, and 11. For some students, the California Alternative Assessment (CAA) is the appropriate test to measure progress in ELA, math, and science. The California Science Test (CAST) is now operational for grades 5, 8, and 12.
