In early 2013 we developed an innovative and aggressive plan to raise the level of network connectivity in VUSD. This plan includes upgrading the overall district Internet connection to SDCOE from 100mb to 1GB. Our elementary schools were upgraded from 10mb connections to 100mb, middle schools were upgraded from 50mb to 100mb, and high schools remained the same at 100mb connections.
Each campus will have a complete wireless network that will support mobile learning. All schools have at least two outdoor wireless access points to expand learning to the common areas used by students. Our high schools have additional wireless coverage to support athletic fields and our agriculture program.
Lastly, our wired network equipment was upgraded to increase the speed of our campus networks from 100mb to 1GB. Our future plans include 10GB networks at each school and continued bandwidth increases to support digital learning.
